visitors staying overnight in local motels – NOT by its
residents. |

Currently Ponca City has 693 motel rooms,
on an average of $69 per night, generating $48,000 per
night or $336,000 per week or $17,472,000 per year!
Motel stays generate over $20 million annually. |

Ponca City Tourism works closely with OK Department of
Tourism promoting Ponca City and its attractions as a
destination, domestically and internationally. A
remarkable increase of 9.74% in lodging tax revenues
from 2007 and 2008, with visitor numbers increasing from
15,934 to 28,918 – an 81% increase to Ponca City’s
economy. |

Overnight stays with motorcoach tours have increased
in the past 4 years from 1 in a 14-month period to 4 in
the past 6 months! A 2-night stay with 3 days of tours
generate approximately $230 per person, per day. A
motorcoach with 56 people spend $38,640 in just 3 days. |

An August, 2009 booking confirms 225
tourists will arrive in 4 motorcoaches to spend the day and attend the
50th anniversary of the 101 Wild West Rodeo, at $115 per
person to equal $25,875. More motorcoaches for this and
other events are expected! |

For a city of our size, Ponca City offers
more attractions and events than any other rural city in
OK: 12 attractions - 5 of those are museums. |

The Conoco Museum and Standing Bear
Museum were opened during the Centennial year, making
Ponca City the only city in the region to open 2
state-of-the-art, Smithsonian quality museums in the
same year! |

The Ponca City Library is a permanent
host to a quality exhibit unlike any other state in our
nation, the 18th Century Chinese & Western Art donated
by Gordon Matzene – FREE to the public. |

The Poncan Theatre is home to a
one-of-a-kind lobby art exhibit. Over 30 pieces of hand
painted movie posters hang in the theatre, making it a
priceless art exhibit! |

Ponca City keeps history alive and
vibrant with 8 sites listed on the National Register of
Historic Places plus 2 just outside the City limit.
Ponca City has the highest number of original brick
streets in the state of Oklahoma. |

The 22 foot bronze statue of Chief Standing Bear is
the tallest bronze statue in the state of Oklahoma. |

The Standing Bear Pow-wow was named a “Top 100 Event
in North America” by the American Bus Association in
2008, with an estimated 3,000 to 5000 people in
attendance. |

Ponca City offers many annual festivals
and events every year. Over 25 fundraising events are
held annually as well as over 25 entertainment venues,
half of which are offered to the general public for
FREE! |

Hits on the Ponca City Tourism website
jumped from 15,073 in 2007 to a whopping 42,622 in 2008
– an increase of 182%. |

Ponca City received two Red Bud Awards:
Best Publication Award for the Tourism Brochure and
Outstanding Event for the Herb Festival. The Red Bud is
the highest honor given in the Oklahoma tourism
industry. |
