Pioneer Tech Offers 15 Different Full, Part-Time Course Offerings
Whether you are a high school junior or senior or an adult looking for career
training. Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) offers full-time or part-time
instruction to meet your needs.
Choose from automotive technology, business and computer technology, child
care, construction technology, cosmetology, food service, health science
technology, horticulture and landscape management, information technology,
machine tool technology, mechanical technology, medical assisting, practical
nursing, respiratory care, and welding technology.
Enrollment is currently under way and the classes officially begin on Aug.
15th, Students interested in attending PTC may contact (by phone or personal
visit) the Career Counseling Center for course information, advice on career
decisions, and assistance with the enrollment process.
PTC provides free tuition to all high school students within the district.
High school students attend on a part-time basis depending on their class
schedules at their home high school. Adult students have the option of attending
on either a part-time or full-time basis. Tuition for adults varies depending on
the program they enroll in and financial aid and scholarships are available to
eligible applicants.
With the addition of the Information Technology (IT) and Mechanical
Technology (MT) program, students can choose from a variety of program
offerings.
The IT program will primarily focus on preparing students for technical or
professional certifications. Network Administration and Troubleshooting will
prepare first year students for Computing Technology Industry Association A+,
Comp-TIA Network+, and Cisco Part 1 and 2. For the second year, students will
prepare for the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Cisco Part 3 and
4.
The Web Services program will prepare students for Comp-Tia A+, CompTIA
I-Net+, Comp-TIA Network+, Certified Inter-net Webmaster-site designer.
Certified Internet Webmaster application designer, and Certified internet
Webmaster data-base specialist. Network Cabling Specialist will also be offered
with these programs.
The MT program offering is also a result of meeting the needs of area
businesses and industry. Through the Oklahoma Partnership of Industry and
Education with Conoco, Ditch-Witch, OG&E, MerCruiser, PTC, Autry Technology
Center, Northern Oklahoma College, and Northeastern State University, the MT
program offering at Pioneer Tech will train students to meet the demands of area
businesses.
The Respiratory Care and Practical Nursing, both for adult students, are very
popular at PTC. The Respiratory Care is a two-year program and the Practical
Nursing is a one-year program.
