Pioneer Technology BIS Program Offers Support

The Pioneer Technology Center's Business and Industry Services (BIS) program has been offering support to area business, industries, and clients for more than two decades. With an increase in customized client-based training, as well as computer software training, the BIS division is offering customers and clients a full-range of educational and training programs through classes, workshops and seminars.

The BIS division, under the direction of Vance Johnson, consists of nine different client-based and training pro-grams that include, self-employment training, small business management, agriculture business management, bid assistance, management development group, safety training, industry training, business incubator, and adult training and development (short-term training) programs.

"Flexibility is what the BIS division is all about," stated Johnson. "Training can be at our facility or the customer's facility depending on their needs. Whether our customers are needing help with their business or needing training on the latest software, we will work with them to implement a training program that fits their unique needs."

Through the adult training and development program, more than 300 courses are available ranging from a few hours to complete semester offerings.

Other courses available through the adult training and development program include, emergency medical technician, machine tool, welding, certified nurse aide, cake decorating, as well as many more. Johnson further stated that the new class schedules will be available for mailing at the end of July and that a complete listing of courses could be accessed on the Pioneer Technology Center's homepage at www.pioneertech.org.

The Self-Employment Training program offers assistance and guidance to individuals interested in starting their own business, managing a new business, or evaluating a current business or business idea. These training programs are held on the Pioneer Tech campus, the client's facility, or other appropriate locations. Pioneer Technology Center's Industry Training is a direct contact for the state funded Training for Industry Program (TIP).
