Hospice Provides Care
A group of citizens who wanted help available for the terminally
ill and their families founded Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in 1982. The hospice staff
is Medicare-certified, state licensed and cares for over 150 patients annually.
No patient or family is ever charged for hospice care by Hospice of North
Central Oklahoma.
Greg Wood, LBSW, (Licensed baccalaureate Social Worker) is the
new executive director. He is also a licensed minister with the Assembly of God.
Hospice of North Central Oklahoma has restructured their staff to include:
-
Claudia Bames, RN, BSN, CHPN, is the director of education and
development;
-
Marta Sullivan, RN, is the director of patient services;
-
Mike Sweetman, M. Div., is the director of chaplain services;
-
Tamie Bames is the director of operations and finances as well
as the volunteer coordinator.
Hospice continues to depend on four fund raisers each year. They
include the annual Appeal Letter, the annual Memorial Golf Tournament, the
Chili/Bar-B-Q Cook-off in September, and the Tree of Life, where community
members may purchase a tree decoration in honor or memory of a loved one.
Hospice of North Central Oklahoma also offers grief support to hospice
families and to anyone in the community who has experienced death of a loved
one.
