Sun 'n Fun Water Park is located 7 miles East of 14th Street on
Lake Road - just West of Kaw Dam at 8900 Lake Road.
The Summer of 2000 brought the addition of yet another water
attraction to Sun 'n Fun Water Park - Wild Water Waves, a 200,000 gallon wave
pool.
The pool spans a 150' length to the water's edge and is 50' wide
at the deeper five-foot end and fans out to approximately 90' wide at the
shallow, zero depth area.
Wild Water Waves added a new dimension to Sun 'n Fun by
increasing the available water activities as well as the park's capacity and
ability to accommodate larger groups.
The original 420' long River Coaster Wild Water Ride, is still
one of the most popular water rides.
Another waterslide, the Blue Banana, is well-liked by all ages.
It is a two-lane, padded body slide that ends in a shallow pool and, thus, is gentle
enough for the very young, exciting as racing lanes for older children and,
also, make a great ride for families to enjoy together. For those
of you who want more excitement, there are the Challenge and the Twister slides. The
Challenge is a high-speed ride that drops the rider and his cart into a pool.
The Twister is an aerial waterslide that sends the rider, seated on a tube,
through a series of spirals, curves, and a tunnel, then spills them into the
Lazy River. The Lazy River gives guests a place to relax and just
float in a tube. Another relaxing place is the Tanning Bay with flowing water to
cool sun tanners. For the younger water lovers, the Kiddie Cove
has its own mini versions of waterslides and rides as well as a water playground
area with dumping buckets and a waterfall mushroom. For those who
prefer dry activities, the mini-golf course, go-cart track and Kiddie-Land are
available. The mini-golf course is an 18-hole one with fun, but
challenging obstacles. It has a rustic, nostalgic atmosphere enhanced by using
original Ponca City street bricks that outline the course and makes walkways. The
go-kart track is a horse-shoe-shaped track that is integrated into the wooded
setting. Both single and double-seated karts are available. The double-seated
go-karts were added this year to allow children ages three through seven, to
ride with an adult. The Kiddie-Land area is for children six and
younger. It has carousel horses, cars, airplanes, and a train. Aside
from all this there are three picnic pavilions that offer amenities for groups.
Groups range from as few as 20 to as large as 1500. The picnic
area also has two sand volleyball courts, a basketball hoop shooting court,
floor shuffleboard, horseshoes, children play areas and cooking grills. Inside
the facility there is a souvenir shop, game arcade, and snack bar. Sun
'n Fun is open from mid-May through Labor Day. From the last class day of the
Ponca City public schools until classes resume in August, the park is open every
day from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sun 'n Fun also manages Kaw Lake
RV Campground located just south of the water park. It is open year round
and offers daily, weekly, and monthly rates with full hook-ups for water, sewer,
and electricity.
